by 🚀 Launch Campus, HKUST TLE, Betatron

October 31st, 2018

18:30 - 20:30

Have you ever wanted to know how a startup scales up from an idea to a full-blown company? The process usually involves an accelerator, which provided startups with funding, mentorship, and market access, to jumpstart their growth. Betatron is quickly becoming one of Hong Kong’s foremost accelerators, having accelerated 21 startups over three cohorts, most of which have gone on to secure further funding rounds.

In this event Betatron will introduce their accelerator program and its role in the context of Hong Kong’s rapidly growing startup ecosystem. It will also feature a talk by a founder from one of their cohorts to tell about is/her experience firsthand. By the end of the evening, you’ll gain plenty of insight into the inner workings of an early stage startup and their growth process, as well as whether the accelerator program is right for you. There will also be a networking session where you’ll be able to meet plenty of influential and ambitious members of the community who may be able to help you on your journey to startup success!

Betatron team will lead a panel Q&A with their alumni founders, including Dr Kandy Yeung (Co-founder & CTO of Oxpecker Labs), Dr Bob Chen (Co-founder & CEO of Oxpecker Labs), and Jason Wong (Co-founder of Pixofy).

Launch Campus is a university student-driven startup community in Hong Kong. It aims to incubate student startup heroes to change the world.

Betatron is Hong Kong’s first non-vertical accelerator programme providing both funding and mentorship for startups. The four-month programme will be run bootcamp style with an intensive schedule focused on the startup’s fundamental KPIs and progress.

TLE is the MPhil program for Technology Leadership and Entrepreneurship at HKUST in the Division of Integrative Systems and Design. In this program, students learn by doing in developing a technical product through research with a leading professor and writing the sustainable business plan that goes with the offering. Students also take technical and MBA courses and an internship to help them in the process. Many students start their company, find team members and raise funding while in the program.
