Early-stage startups will come across "venture capital" when they look for investors who can support their expense in talent, R&D, operations, marketing and business expansion. For students and recent graduate startup founders, fund-raising is one of their big challenges due to lack of startup experience and connection to seed-stage investors. Student startups need Rookie Fund to equip knowledge in venture capital, as well as, to develop network with later-stage investment.

In the Rookie Fund Info Session, you will have a brief understand of how venture capital (VC) firms operate internally, and their roles in startup ecosystem. Financial topics will be briefly covered like fund size, investment methods, and return strategies. A few of Hong Kong-based startups will be taken in case studies.

Last but not least, the Operations Manager of Rookie Fund will introduce their training program for student investors. For students who are interested in technology startups and investment, this is a valuable chance for you to get hands-on experience in deal sourcing, analysis, to investment.

Rookie Fund is the Asia’s first student-run venture capital fund. We aim to discover and invest in the best student investors, with training in Silicon Valley model of angel investment and term sheet negotitation, and mentorship with top startup investors from across the world. ABOUT Good Seed

Good Seed is a social innovation training and funding programme jointly developed and organized by Institute for Entrepreneurship (IfE) and Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation (J.C.DISI) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Funded by the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund,, the Programme aims to unleash creative potential of young people to drive social innovations for the benefits of underprivileged, with Design, Technology and Business as major focus.
